This year, I am taking part in Blogtober. This is a blog linky, set up by Mandi over at Big Family Organised Chaos. Here’s a brief explanation of what Blogtober involves: There is a different blog prompt each day through October. The idea is you join in every day and interact with the other blogs who join in. Doing so will help you find other blogs you’ll love, and also get you new blog readers. Today’s prompt is This is me. So I’m going to do a little introduction post…
This is me
I’m Tina, I’m 36 and a single mum of two. When my husband and I separated, our daughter opted to live with him full time. So I live with my 9 year old son and two boxer dogs in my late grandparents’ home. I’ve been very slowly refurbishing it, in between juggling kids, dogs, self employment and a pandemic. So this is pretty much my everyday look…
My daughter spends every Friday night with me for some 1-1 girl time, and I have both kids on alternate weekends. I have also somehow managed to add a new man to that crazy mix. Although he’s not a fan of putting yourself out there online, so he won’t feature on my blogs or social media channels much.
Work Time
I began my first blog MotherGeek back in 2011. When my son was in the process of being diagnosed with Autism, it became a real sanity saver for me. As the years rolled by, my readership and social media following slowly grew, and before long I was being offered paid work.
Back in 2018, I finally took the plunge and registered as self employed. I was earning a regular income from MotherGeek, so I set up a second blog, GirlsGospel. Before long, both were earning a regular income, so I added this blog to the mix.
Being able to work from home, around my kids’ (and then Husband’s) appointments, illnesses and activities was amazing. I felt like I was contributing again, and my confidence grew. (As did the pressure).
The Juggle Is Real
Each one of my blogs offers a different take on my life. I am regularly found typing away after midnight, and there’s no such thing as a weekend off for me. I’m usually at my most productive during my fortnightly parenting free weekend.
MotherGeek is warts n all parenting. It focusses on mum life and everything that comes with it. There’s also some travel and a bit of lifestyle and business.
GirlsGospel is mostly lifestyle focussed. There’s content on home, travel, books, food and the occasional bit of dating and business as well. It is a child free zone though.
MumFounded is kind of a blend of the two. It’s about the reality of juggling a career and motherhood. With a bit of lifestyle thrown in as well.
Blogtober For Me
While I’d love to be able to create 3 separate posts each day, that’s completely impractical. So instead, I’m breaking all the rules and splitting the 31 days between my 3 blogs. I’ll decide on a prompt by prompt basis, which day belongs where.
Finally, if you want to join in with Blogtober, these are this year’s prompts. (There’s a musical theme this time around)!
