I was tagged by the lovely Josie over at me, them and the others to participate in a Q&A about my life. This is better known as the Mum tag 2019. The idea is you answer some questions about your own experience of motherhood. So here they are – Honest to the point of cringing, of course!
Q&A about my life – The Mum Tag 2019
1. DO YOU HAVE ANY NICKNAMES?
My real name is Tina but 99% of people call me Tee. When I was a teenager, only my dad could get away with calling me that. I’d point out to everyone else it was Tina. Somewhere along the line, those hormones chilled out though, so now I only get called Tina when I’m in trouble!
2. ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
No. My dad wanted to call me Tia, but my mum hated it. So Tina was a compromise.
3. DO YOU HAVE ANY SIBLINGS?
Yeah. My parents were both married before they got together and had me. (I’m the youngest). Altogether, I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. So it was a bit of a mad house growing up!
4. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
North Manchester. I sound like I grew up in Weatherfield!
5. WHAT ACTIVITIES DID YOU DO IN SCHOOL?
Erm…. does cheating in German tests count? Or dying half the year’s hair in year 6? Other than that, I was a total angel who did all her homework and never put a toe out of line… (really)! I was a carer for my sister so didn’t have time for after school clubs etc.
6. WHERE DID YOU GO TO UNIVERSITY?
I didn’t go. (So daft, I know)!
7. WHAT ACTIVITIES DID YOU DO IN UNIVERSITY?
My best friend went to Hope uni in Liverpool, so I visited her a lot. We went out drinking in town, visited Cream of course and ate cheesy wotsit sandwiches.
8. WHAT DID YOU STUDY AT UNIVERSITY?
Does Scouse count? Alternatively, I learnt how to stretch £5 to feed you for 2 days?
9. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB OUT OF UNIVERSITY?
I quit college half way through my first year because the tutors kept skipping lectures. I went on to do an NVQ in care while supporting adults with learning disabilities. My plan was to get my level 3 then do my social work degree. It never happened though.
10. WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
Indie, rock, a bit of pop, The Beatles and Queen are played a lot too! So it’s fair to say I’m a typical Mancunian in that respect.
11. WHAT’S ONE HOBBY THAT YOU’D LIKE TO TAKE UP?
I’ve been lucky in getting to do more of my dream hobby this year. I’ve always wanted to be a radio presenter and have done some guest presenting on BBC Radio Manchester. It’s been a great experience and I’m hoping I can do more, moving forward.
12. WHAT DID YOU THINK YOU WANTED TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
I wanted to be a lawyer until I was about 13 and realised how long that would take. Next, I changed my mind to being a social worker. Growing up with 2 sisters with special needs meant I’d already seen how helpful they could be.
13. WHAT’S THE BIGGEST PROJECT ON YOUR TO-DO LIST?
Jeez. It’s about a mile long. The back garden has been on my to do list for about 5 years now and keeps getting put off because something else needs the money more. I want to get rid of the rundown summer house and gravel, then replace it with fake grass and edible borders for my son who has autism and loves eating plants. I’m thinking mint, lavender, lemongrass etc so it’s a really fragrant space.
14. DO YOU HAVE ANY IRRATIONAL FEARS?
Clowns. I cannot stand them. It wouldn’t be a Q&A about my life without mentioning them!
15. HAVE YOU EVER TRAVELLED OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY? IF SO, WHERE?
Yes but my favourite place is Scotland.
I’ve been to Spain, Paris, Majorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, Corfu and Rhodes.
Australia is top of my bucket list!
16. WHEN’S YOUR NEXT VACATION AND WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
We’ve not been abroad since we had the kids and I can’t see it happening any time soon. It’ll be camping trips for the foreseeable future, while we get the house updated.
17. DO YOU SPEAK ANY OTHER LANGUAGES?
A bit of French.
18. WHAT’S ONE TALENT THAT YOU WISH YOU HAD?
I’d love to be able to say no. I find it impossible to let people down.
19. WHAT’S SOMETHING THAT YOU WISH YOU COULD DO ONE MORE TIME?
Tell my parents I love them. My dad passed away on Valentine’s Day 2007 (I was 23 and he was 54). My mum passed away suddenly in 2016. (I was 32, she was 64). I can’t believe it’s taken to question 19 in a Q&A about my life to mention them. Madness.
20. IF YOU WEREN’T IN YOUR CURRENT JOB, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE DOING?
Radio presenting or writing books. I have so many ideas bubbling under the surface waiting to get out!
So now you’ve read my answers, it’s time for me to nominate some other bloggers to play! I nominate…
